Based in Fairfax, VA, we provide local residents of Northern Virginia and the Washington DC area with creative design solutions including home additions and renovations, painting, interior design, and outdoor living installations. In 1984, an Oklahoma native, Thomas R. Young, started a painting business and began to paint in Tulsa, OK.
As the company grew, he decided it was time for a change.
In 1989, he relocated the company to Fairfax, VA.
In 2000, the company continued to broaden its horizons by offering a wide range of renovating services.
While much has changed while serving our community for more than 20 years, many things have remained constant including a defined set of values which foster a true sense of family and a commitment to the finest craftsmanship.

The walkway leading up to our porch was sinking, the edge of the porch was falling off
and we had spaces under the garage where animals were digging holes. Our back patio also had some sunken areas.
Tom is very experienced and hands-on.He tries to figure out the best solution for his customers, and supervises the project personally when necessary.
Our drainage problems along the front of our house were fixed, as was the back patio. The front of our porch was rebuilt, a new path installed. Tom recommended foam injection for the garage problem, which he does not do.
The quality of the work was 5 star, from start to finish.

Tom and his team finished a beautiful renovation of my historic condo this Fall. He invested time and interest in considering the things I wanted done and eagerly provided many ideas. Once we got started, he was very quick to return phone calls like when coordinating on fixtures that I had to pick out. His talented and careful crew got right to work and essentially were on the job full time except for holidays and when permits were being pulled. Because my place was old, there were lots of different little things to sort out and work around like varying wall thicknesses, old windows, missing trim, etc... and they made it all work! They also patched 15 ceiling holes that an electrician had done and those came out perfect. Because you will discuss many ideas, get the final ideas you had in mind in the contract. Highly recommended.

Our home was remodeled by TR Young Services (Jan-Mar 2018). I can recommend them without reservation. The work is excellent; the project manager (Brandon) was pleasant and responsive; the tradesmen were hard-working and competent. The home was left clean, complete, and I have absolutely no complaints about the quality of the workmanship. As always when hiring a company, it is important to be sure the contract is clear and detailed. Having said that, when I had questions or found inaccuracies, things were handled quickly, pleasantly, and to everyone's satisfaction. TR Young are a pleasure to work with.

I was recommended to T.R, Young Services by a friend after closing the sale on my very first apartment purchase. I have some painting to be done and overall touch ups and fixes. I was looking for more than a handy man who could advise me on fixing up my place to make it even more livable and secure.
From the first visit to provide me with the quote, I could already tell that I am talking to an experienced contractor, who would not easily be daunted by projects that may seem complicated for me. Thomas was punctual, professional and knows what he is talking about, someone whom I feel I could trust to handle and I gave him the contract rightway.
The work done met all my expectations:timeliness, quality and good value for money. As one of the reviewers mentioned, Thomas is responsive and very efficient. I would highly recommend him to all my friends. Thank you, Thomas!

I am always hesitant to hire someone when I didn't get a personal recommendation from someone I know and trust. No one could recommend a general contractor in the area, and I had a very difficult time finding one that did repairs and not just expensive remodels who actually returned messages. So, we called TR Young Services based on the couple of Yelp reviews. I called on a federal holiday and spoke with someone in the office. Within a couple of hours we received a return call and a couple of hours later, the owner came to look at the problem. He gave us a VERY reasonable quote and there was a work crew here the next morning at 8am.
This company is WONDERFUL and we have definitely found our new handyman/repair/remodel company. The crew was on time. Actually, they were early - we saw the van parked out on the street 10 minutes early, but since it was before 8am, they waited until the scheduled time to knock. We had a kitchen pipe that was leaking into the finished basement below. They tried fixing it from below, which would have been cheaper and quicker. Once they realized that they couldn't reach the issue that way, they requoted us and scheduled a different crew to come out the next day. I don't want it to sound like they did a "bait and switch" because we had been warned and were prepared for this possibility by the plumber we had come to look at it earlier. We hoped it would be easy but were prepared that it wasn't.
When all was said and done, the crew was quick, cleanly (they laid down tarps and protective plastic throughout the house and were on the floor mopping on hands and knees when they finished), professional and incredibly accommodating. They suggested different ways to approach the work so we could keep costs down. They dealt with my curious, gigantic (125 lbs.) and hyperactive dog. They dealt with our annoying home warranty company and all we had to do was ask. Nothing seemed to bother them. I can't recommend these guys more. We will definitely continue to use them.
