Lars Remodeling & Design

My wife and I are currently working with Lars on a large-scale, whole-home remodel and cannot say enough wonderful things about the team. We initially started the process with another contractor, but were left feeling dejected after a less-than impressive experience. Heeding the recommendations of friends, we attended a Lars remodeling workshop and were immensely impressed by their presentation. Our project manager, Ken, has been exemplary in every way. He has been a true pleasure to work with, and continues to impress us with his responsive communication style, and innovative design ideas. We knew that we were in good hands when the design team of Jessica & Samantha, architect Debbie, and contractor Owen made numerous site-visits to ensure every detail of the remodel would be attended to perfectly. Show-room manager Matt has also been so kind and helpful in selecting appliances - we had no idea what we were doing! Laurie and Bonnie also continue to make us feel welcome at each design meeting.

The prospect of a whole-home remodel was incredibly daunting, but Lars has made the process feel entirely manageable by guiding us through every step of the way and ensuring that the project stays on track. We can't imagine working with any other group, and cannot say enough good things about the company. We would recommend to any of our friends or family in a heartbeat. We are so excited to continue working together with Lars as our project moves forward.

I would like to share a customer satisfaction issue that met every expectation…it was perfect. We had Lars provide an extensive remodel circa 2010. We have been very happy with the end product since. Earlier this week, our water heater failed. While troubleshooting with assistance from the heater manufacturer tech support, it came to light that a modification to the venting method done as part of the remodel to vent horizontally out the side of the house with an external exhaust fan is not safe and could no be supported. Hearing that we have been in an unsafe environment as a result of recommendation by the Lars team to address the structural constraints for the venting, I became extremely angry and contacted Lars’ office. Matt, the Lars office manager took my initial and subsequent calls. Matt flawlessly handled the situation being calm and respectful and offering detailed advice on his actions going forward and fulfilled and beyond every commitment. Project manager Owen engaged straightaway along with Lars’ plumbing contractor Gustavo of Calplumb. Additionally, Jason Larson returned my call per my demand. Jason assured me that the situation would be addressed without any pushback. After these reactions by the Lars team, I felt totally comfortable that we were in good hands. As requested, Owen and Gustavo along with his assistant Omar rang my doorbell right at 8:00AM the next morning. After scoping the issue and reviewing options, Owen offered the best solution to replace the water heater with a modern model designed specifically for this application that included a new vent line. Gustavo and Omar proceeded to procure the heater and materials for the installation straightaway. Before the end of the day, we were back up and running with hot water. The installation is beautiful. This situation could not have been handled any better by all involved. The ownership and reaction by Lars was perfect. This reaffirms our decision to select Lars originally. We were told at the time that the warranty is basically forever. I can say without hesitation that this is the case. BRAVO!

After interviewing multiple design and build firms in the San Diego area, we decided to use Lars Remodeling and Design to build our new master bedroom suite. They also renovated an existing bathroom, brought our garage up to code, and included some other improvements around the house such new lighting and a new front porch. We selected Lars because they offered the most personal and professional touch during our interview process. We were very impressed with the enthusiasm, attention to detail, and patience that Vice President Brandon Spann brought to designing our new space. Walking into our new master is a seamless transition that feels like the room has been part of the house since it was originally built. Being in the new room feels like staying in a resort suite and has exceeded all of our expectations for the space. We did have some issues with some of the work that was done. Our Project Manager, Duane, did a great job of addressing the items and ensuring things were redone until they were correct. It was during this time that I was told something by a friend that really stuck with me for the rest of the project. “When dealing with construction, problems are always going to happen. What matters is how you fix them.” I can confidently say that Lars was willing to do the right thing and make sure the project was completed to our satisfaction.

We recently completely our home renovation project with LARS. Remodeling a home can be as very stressful experience (and it was). However, you can get through it when you feel like you've got a partner. Particularly if that partner has decades of experience and has people that love what they do. That's LARS.

Jason and his team showed patience, passion and excitement. It took us over 6 months to lock down initial scope and they were there at every step. We really wanted to design the home of our dreams, take the image in our minds and make it a reality. They delivered.

From consult, to design, to execution, to delivery, LARS is the only way to go. We are living in the home of our dreams and they made that possible. I would highly recommend LARS remodeling and design to anyone looking to find the home of their dreams.
