Owner Ken Tix started out building log shells and says that he "fell backward into this business" as more, and more people needed someone to stain and seal their new homes. That was just the beginning. TSS was started in 1989, incorporated in 1993, and has been serving Colorado ever since. With years of experience and an increasing knowledge of products and services, TSS has become the premier company to build, finish, maintain, and restore your log home.

Most of our work is done "in house" by our employees covered by worker's compensation insurance and liability insurance to protect us as well as our Clients. We use scaffolding and safety equipment to access all areas of the house. No area is ever left un-done because it's hard to reach. We work year round using large tarps and heat when Mother Nature is less than cooperative.
Services
Depending on the style of your log home, you will seal between your logs with either a caulking or chinking.
Each is available in a variety of colors for you to choose from.
The difference being that chinking is meant to be seen and can seal larger openings, whereas caulking is meant to be hidden and is more appropriate for smaller gaps.
Caulking is also used in filling the cracks, or checks in the logs.
These checks will allow the infiltration of air, and insects into your house as well as water in to the logs that, over time, can lead to rot.
If you would like to add a log accent to an area of your home, or would like to erect a log ranch gate at your entrance, our log carpenters can work out a design with you, create, and securely install it.
Older cabins and sometimes newer homes will have areas of logs that have begun to rot.
We will stabilize the area, remove the rot and install new logs to match the existing ones.
Often, only the outer half of the log will need removal and we can reface the log with a half-log, then stain and seal the area to match.
Whether we remove an old deck or start from scratch, we can build the deck of your dreams.
You may want redwood, Brazilian hardwood, or a maintenance free composite decking, and you can choose log posts and railings, or metal balusters, and even powder-coated metal stair treads.
In Colorado, we spend a lot of time out on our decks, and for good reason.
Let us build your "forever deck" that withstands the harsh elements and has minimal maintenance.
Many older cabins were built right on the ground and without a proper footer or foundation.
Colorado's pine pollen season and the dust from our dry climate really takes a toll building up on the upper curvatures of the logs on your log home.
By removing this build-up with a pressure washer every year, not only do you retain the healthy look of your logs, but you reduce the abrasive nature of the grime that over time will work its way in to your wood making it more and more difficult to remove.
It's good to annually assess the health of your exterior stain or finish, and maintain it when needed.
This project included many of the services we provide.
We set scaffolding around the house, where needed, to access the upper areas of the house.
The roof is an interesting composite that proved a bit slippery.
We used rope rigging with harnesses to reach the upper Boston vent fascia, and skylights.
Proper masking was used that included additional protection for the Clients gardens.
For the Media Blast, we used a crushed glass that does not contain harmful silica and removed the old stain and deteriorated wood surfaces.
